Alpe d’Huez a smoke-free ski area
In Alpe d’Huez, we are committed to preserving what makes our mountains so special: pure air, a seamless experience, and the pleasure of skiing in an unspoiled environment.
Since summer 2025, our ski area has been officially designated a smoke-free zone, in accordance with the decree of 27 June 2025 and the order of 21 July 2025, as part of the national “Smoke-Free Generation” plan.
Beyond the regulatory framework, this approach reflects a broader vision: protecting an exceptional natural setting and offering every skier an even more enjoyable experience.
Where is smoking no longer permitted?
To ensure everyone’s comfort and enhance the quality of your ski experience, smoking is no longer allowed: on the slopes, in lift queues, on all ski lifts and cable transport.
👉 In other words: any ski area or lift access zone is now smoke-free.
If you wish to smoke
Designated smoking areas have been set up away from ski zones.
A dedicated map is available to help you quickly locate the nearest smoking area during your descent.
Protecting the mountains, together
For several years, Alpe d’Huez has been actively reducing waste through its “cigarette-butt-free ski area” initiative and the installation of voluntary drop-off points across the resort.
A small gesture can have a major impact:
1 cigarette butt can pollute 500 litres of water or 1 m³ of snow, it can take up to 12 years to decompose, and in the mountains, any abandoned waste eventually ends up… in the sea.
By respecting smoke-free zones, you help protect the natural environment we all cherish.
