In 2026, the Tour de France will once again bring excitement to Alpe d’Huez with a legendary summit finish during Stage 19 from Gap to Alpe d’Huez.

This iconic climb, famous for its 21 hairpin bends and electric atmosphere, will test riders on one of the most emblematic ascents in world cycling.

It promises a unique moment where performance, history, and passion come together, delivering a spectacular showdown for both riders and fans.

Thousands of spectators are expected along the route to cheer on the champions and experience a truly unforgettable day in Tour de France legend.

Alpe d’Huzes

The Alpe d’HuZes brings together around 5,000 cyclists, riding solo or in teams, to climb the iconic ascent up to six times in a single day. The challenge features the legendary 21 hairpin bends of the Alpe d'Huez, making it both physically and mentally demanding. The goal is to raise funds for the KWF in support of cancer research. It is a powerful charity event combining endurance, solidarity, and determination.

Marmotte Granfondo

The Marmotte Granfondo is a legendary cycling event starting in Bourg d'Oisans and finishing at the Alpe d'Huez. The course covers around 180 km with nearly 5,000 m of elevation gain. Riders tackle a series of legendary Alpine passes before finishing with the famous 21 hairpin bends of Alpe d’Huez.

Pop in the City

The Pop In The City is a 100% female team-based adventure race that offers a unique way to discover a city. The event focuses on exploring European destinations, often off the beaten track, through fun and original challenges. This summer, Pop In The City will take place for the first time in the Alpe d'Huez.

Mégavalanche

The Megavalanche is a legendary mountain bike race known for its spectacular glacier start. Riders launch together in a mass start before tackling a long and highly technical descent through high mountains. The course crosses snow, rocks, trails, and alpine paths all the way down to the valley, often in extreme conditions. It is considered one of the most impressive and demanding MTB events in the world, taking place around the Alpe d'Huez.

Convention Fitness

The Alpe d’Huez Fitness Convention is a must-attend event dedicated to sport and well-being. For its 22nd edition, participants take part in a wide variety of styles including jive, step, cha-cha, urban reggaeton, and contemporary dance. Classes are led by internationally recognised fitness instructors. The event offers a dynamic atmosphere that is accessible to all levels.

Stage of the Tour

Nearly 16,000 participants will set off from Bourg d'Oisans for a 170 km course with 5,400 m of positive elevation gain. The route crosses legendary mountain passes such as the Col de la Croix de Fer, the Col du Télégraphe, and the Col du Galibier. The finish will be at the Alpe d'Huez via the Col de Sarenne. This edition is widely regarded as one of the toughest in recent years.

Tour de France 2026

The Tour de France will return to the Alpe d'Huez in 2026 with a special two-stage format. On 24th July (Stage 19), riders will set off from Gap and climb to Alpe d’Huez via the iconic 21 hairpin bends. On 25th July (Stage 20), the stage will start from Bourg d'Oisans, finishing via the Col de Sarenne. Two summit finishes in two days: an unprecedented and spectacular scenario in the history of the race.

Triathlon de l'Alpe d'Huez

The Triathlon de l’Alpe d’Huez is one of the key summer sporting highlights in the mountains. It brings together athletes from all backgrounds, inspired by the iconic spirit of the 21 hairpin bends of the Alpe d'Huez. From 28th to 31st July, more than 4,000 participants are expected across the various races. The event combines performance, self-challenge, and a unique high-altitude atmosphere.

Challenge des Cimes d’Huez

The Challenge des Cimes d’Huez brings together four events: the Grimpée du Signal, the Alpe Express, the Pic de l’Alpe, and Alpe 21. Between vertical climbs, off-road sections, and passages through the famous 21 hairpin bends of the Alpe d'Huez, each race offers a demanding and varied experience. Some courses include up to 1,000 m of elevation gain in just 3.5 km, making them particularly intense. The ultimate goal is to complete all four races and successfully finish the full challenge in the heart of the Alps.

Tour des 6 vallées de l’Oisans

The Tour des 6 Vallées de l’Oisans was created by local runners and the Les 2 Alpes Trail association. It offers a unique multi-stage format across the valleys of the Oisans, including the Alpe d'Huez. The race pushes beyond standard trail distances, covering around 170 km and 10,000 m of elevation gain—equivalent to 100 miles. It is a true endurance challenge set in the heart of the Alpine mountains.

National de Pétanque

The National de pétanque de l’Alpe d’Huez takes place over five days of intense competition. Several formats are featured, from women’s events to the main National competition, as well as veterans’ and men’s categories. In total, nearly 600 players take part, alongside some of France’s top elite competitors. It is a friendly and popular event centred around pétanque, a sport deeply rooted in French culture, held in the heart of the Alpe d'Huez.
