The main route to Alpe d’Huez by car is via Grenoble, then along the D1091 towards Bourg-d’Oisans. From Bourg-d’Oisans, follow signs for Alpe d’Huez and take the famous 21-bend road up to the resort.

This iconic mountain road takes you directly to Alpe d’Huez, with spectacular views over the Oisans valley along the way.

From Grenoble

The Itinisère bus network, operated by the regional authority, provides regular connections from Grenoble to Alpe d’Huez throughout the year.

Grenoble → Alpe d’Huez (winter only): a direct express service operates between Grenoble and Alpe d’Huez, with two return services per day during the winter season. Journey time is approximately 1 hr 45 min.

Grenoble → Bourg-d’Oisans (T75): several departures each day, with a journey time of approximately 1 hr 30 min.

Bourg-d’Oisans → Alpe d’Huez (T76): frequent connections to Alpe d’Huez, with additional services during the winter and summer seasons.

From Lyon

Dedicated shuttle services operate from Lyon, with up to four departures on Saturdays, depending on the period.

A BlaBlaCar Bus service also connects Lyon with Alpe d’Huez on Saturdays.

From Genève

The Altibus shuttle provides a direct connection every Saturday between Geneva Airport and Alpe d’Huez during the winter season.

Located around 100 km from Alpe d’Huez, Grenoble Alpes-Isère Airport is one of the most convenient options. It offers regular flights from several European destinations, including England, Scotland, Ireland, Poland and Lithuania.

On arrival:
Actibus shuttle services connect the airport with Grenoble railway station in around 40 minutes.

For a direct journey to Alpe d’Huez, Ben’s Bus also operates regular transfers timed to selected flights throughout the week.

Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport

Located around 150 km from Alpe d’Huez, Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport offers a wider choice of domestic and international flights, making it a convenient option for travellers arriving from further afield.

Geneva International Airport

Located in Switzerland, Geneva Airport is another popular option for international visitors. Bus and train connections allow you to travel to Grenoble, with onward services to Alpe d’Huez.
